After acquiring the Piedras Negras brewery in Northern Mexico, Constellation Brands launched a major expansion to increase production capacity and transform the facility into a larger, more technologically advanced operation. The work required multiple project teams, vendors and design partners to coordinate closely across a program with many interdependent parts. With the expansion on a 30-month schedule, careful sequencing and alignment were essential to keep the work progressing and the facility on track for startup.

Challenge met
Alberici, in joint venture with Gilbane, helped deliver the expansion through detailed planning and coordination that established multiple interim milestones and kept critical work moving in parallel. This approach allowed the team to manage the pace and complexity of the program while maintaining alignment across all phases of the expansion.
The project included a new brewery building, packaging building, warehouses and grain silo storage structures, along with rail line expansion, water and wastewater plant expansions and expansion of the cogeneration plant and site utilities. The overall project was completed on schedule, with many independent and critical activities delivered ahead of schedule. Combined with strong quality and safety performance, the expansion positioned the facility to operate at a significantly higher production capacity.
