The challenge

When Tokyo Roki, an international manufacturer of automotive components, including exhaust emission control systems needed a new production facility, they turned to Alberici, in a design-build joint venture with The Austin Company and Kajima. The project required building a specialized facility in the Santa Fe IV Industrial Park in Silao, Guanajuato, capable of producing catalysts for automotive exhaust systems. The facility needed to accommodate specialized manufacturing processes, including blending raw materials in kilns, followed by a soaking and baking process. The Alberici team had to deliver a turnkey design-build solution that met Tokyo Roki’s unique production requirements and international demand.

Challenge met

Alberici and its joint venture partners provided a comprehensive turnkey design-build solution to construct a specialized production facility for Tokyo Roki. Schematic design was performed by a Japanese firm to ensure alignment with international standards, while collaboration with local architects and subcontractors ensured cost and schedule certainty.

Alberici worked closely with Tokyo Roki during relocation from their existing facility to the new plant. Through effective coordination, the Alberici team completed closeout activities for the facility, including the procurement of new furniture and punch list activities, while Tokyo Roki relocated process equipment. This helped minimize disruption to ongoing operations and enabled production to get back online as soon as possible.

Alberici’s design-build solution delivered a specialized facility that met Tokyo Roki’s manufacturing needs and international demand, enhancing their operational capabilities in the global market. The production facility ensured continued delivery of high-quality exhaust emission control systems to the automotive industry.
