Opening Doors for Future Builders

The construction industry is expected to need more than half a million additional workers in the next year, and Alberici’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are helping meet that demand by inspiring and preparing future builders. These employee-led groups provide peer support, encourage career and personal growth, and foster a sense of belonging—all while advancing Alberici’s core values.
By empowering employees and reaching into schools and communities, ERGs are helping young people see that construction offers meaningful, rewarding careers. They show that there is a place for everyone to belong and contribute, strengthening both the future workforce and the industry as a whole.
Building the Next Generation
High school students from the Skilled Trades Exploration Program (STEP) visited Alberici’s 2150 Kienlen campus this summer for presentations and facility tours that highlighted career paths in the building trades. Hosted by EPiC, Alberici’s early professionals group, the visit introduced students to the industry and helped build a future pipeline of skilled workers.
Alberici also participated in the ACE Mentor Program, which engages high school students in architecture, engineering, and construction. Volunteers guided students at the Boys and Girls Club through a yearlong renovation project that combined industry education with hands-on planning and design. Members of EPiC supported the effort, providing mentorship that introduced students to construction careers and created lasting community connections.
Sparking Early Curiosity
Local Girl Scouts visited Alberici’s St. Louis office for a workshop on the science behind cranes. Organized by GROW, Alberici’s women’s resource group, the event gave the Scouts an interactive introduction to construction concepts and encouraged them to consider careers in STEM fields.
Alberici also partnered with its self-perform masonry subsidiary, Leonard Masonry, to provide new gym equipment for students at Bierbaum Elementary after the team noticed their gear was worn. Led by members of MOSAIC, the company’s multicultural group, the effort met a clear need and demonstrated how construction professionals can make a positive impact beyond the jobsite.
A Commitment to the Future
“Programs like these play an important role in developing future talent,” said Makita Hill, Alberici’s inclusion and community engagement manager. “By connecting with students early and introducing them to our industry, we can spark curiosity, build confidence, and open real pathways into construction.”
Together, these initiatives demonstrate Alberici’s commitment to creating an inclusive, sustainable construction industry ready for the future.
