85,000 SFThe challenge
Under the design-build contract, Alberici faced the challenge of constructing an expansion of the existing warehouse facility for The Minute Maid Company Canada, Inc., a division of Coca-Cola, Ltd. The project was divided into two phases: first, the construction of a finished goods warehouse with both chilled and frozen storage spaces and the installation of an ammonia refrigeration system; and second, the renovation and conversion of existing chilled warehouse space into a new cGMP production space. The challenge lay in efficiently managing both phases while ensuring the project’s timely completion, despite the complexities of construction during the winter months.

Challenge met
Alberici executed a comprehensive solution to expand The Minute Maid Company Canada’s warehouse facility successfully. In the first phase, they constructed an 80,000 SF finished goods warehouse with chilled and frozen storage spaces, skillfully erecting the structural steel frame and R-40 rated roof. The installation of an ammonia refrigeration system ensured precise temperature control for product storage. In the second phase, Alberici transformed the chilled warehouse into a new cGMP production space, making process modifications and installing new equipment. Our millwrights efficiently managed the equipment installation and utility infrastructure. Overcoming winter challenges, Alberici utilized ground heater systems to maintain construction progress. The project was completed on schedule, providing The Minute Maid Company Canada with improved storage and production capabilities to meet industry demands.
