The challenge

Wright City’s existing lagoon-based wastewater treatment system, originally constructed more than 40 years ago, could no longer meet the demands of the community’s growth or support major new industrial development. Public Water Supply District No. 2 needed a modern treatment facility capable of significantly increasing capacity while meeting stringent nutrient-removal requirements. The project also needed to accommodate industrial wastewater from American Foods Group’s new America’s Heartland Packaging facility, creating a complex treatment challenge with an accelerated delivery schedule.
