Wright City Unveils New Wastewater Treatment Facility

WRIGHT CITY, Mo. — A new wastewater treatment facility is now complete in Wright City, Mo., marking a major step forward in supporting regional growth and sustainability. The project was delivered by the joint venture design-build team of Alberici and Woodard & Curran for the Public Water Supply District No. 2 (PWSD No. 2) in partnership with American Foods Group (AFG).

The new facility expands treatment capacity from 500,000 gallons per day to 3.5 million gallons per day, providing advanced nutrient removal for both municipal and industrial flows. It replaces an older system and supports operations at AFG’s new America’s Heartland Packaging plant while accommodating future residential and commercial growth.

“The Alberici–Woodard & Curran team worked closely with PWSD No. 2 and AFG to bring this project to life,” said John Grib, Vice President at Alberici. “Delivering a complex facility like this ahead of schedule and with zero safety incidents is a true reflection of the collaboration and commitment shared by everyone involved.”

The project achieved substantial completion one week ahead of schedule and logged more than 321,000 work hours with zero recordable or lost-time injuries.

PWSD No. 2, AFG, and local leaders recently gathered to celebrate the ribbon cutting at the new facility, located at 1000 Lagoon Drive in Wright City.
