Alberici faced the challenge of constructing three outpatient health facilities in response to the growing needs of the booming St. Louis suburb. Mercy entrusted Alberici with the task of building the Mercy Zumbehl and Mercy Winghaven clinics, which included physician’s offices offering a range of medical services such as family and internal medicine, cardiology diagnostics, OB/GYN, imaging, and laboratory services. The challenge was to create facilities that would enhance the patient experience by incorporating spacious exam rooms, wide corridors, open gallery-style waiting areas, covered drop-off points, and a central kiosk check-in.

Three outpatient clinic locations
Challenge met
Building upon the success of the Zumbehl and Winghaven clinics, Alberici was selected to construct the Mercy Kids Mid Rivers specialty clinic. This facility specifically caters to pediatric patients and their families, providing child-friendly exam rooms, dedicated areas for behavioral health exams, autism treatment, physical therapy, and comprehensive sports injury rehabilitation with indoor and outdoor therapy gyms. The facility was designed to accommodate the unique needs of young patients, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment.
The successful completion of all three facilities was driven by a collaborative approach fostered by Alberici, Mercy, and Archimages, the architect. Utilizing Lean construction techniques, the project teams worked together harmoniously, resulting in on-budget and on-schedule completion of all three projects. The collaborative environment and shared commitment to delivering excellence ensured the successful realization of Mercy’s vision for expanded outpatient care in the St. Louis suburb.
