Using materials and practices with reduced carbon impacts, GM’s Delta Township Assembly Plant was completed on an aggressive 20-month schedule. The $178 million project involved building a 2.4 million SF campus-style facility, including a body shop, general assembly facility, elevated conveyor/utility trestles, and an administration building with a state-of-the-art data center. Achieving LEED Gold Certification required careful attention to sustainable site practices, water efficiency, energy use, and materials and resources management, making it a pioneering green manufacturing facility.
