Alberici Secures Progressive Design-Build Contract for Eglinton Crosstown West Extension Stations, Rail and Systems

Alberici, as a member of Trillium Rail Partners, is proud to announce that Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx have awarded the consortium, which also includes Amico Major Projects Inc., Acciona Infrastructure Canada Inc., and WSP Canada Inc., a development and master construction agreement (DMCA), signed with Metrolinx, to deliver the Stations, Rail and Systems (SRS) package for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE).

The project will improve connectivity across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area by extending Line 5 Eglinton 9.2 kilometres west from Mount Dennis Station to Renforth Drive.

Trillium Rail Partners will deliver the project through a progressive design-build model that allows the consortium to work collaboratively with Metrolinx to refine the design, manage risk, and establish the best path forward before major construction begins—ensuring a smoother delivery, reduced disruptions, and lasting benefits for the communities across the Greater Toronto Area.

This contract includes the design and construction of seven new stations — one at-grade, two elevated and four underground, along with the installation of tracks, signaling, train control systems, communications, ventilation, and electrification infrastructure. The scope also covers upgrades at Mount Dennis Station to connect seamlessly with the future Eglinton Crosstown LRT line, as well as six emergency exit buildings and a new traction power substation.
