FCA Belvidere Assembly Plant LEED Gold

Partnering to achieve LEED Gold

To ensure successful launch of the Dodge Dart in 2011, FCA called on Alberici to complete a design-build addition of a new 500,000-square-foot body shop at the Belvidere Assembly Plant. Alberici installed 600 robots in the body shop, general assembly equipment, and constructed a 25,000-square-foot metrology lab. To help control schedule and allow for seamless integration of process equipment, Alberici self-performed a number of critical path activities. Alberici also worked closely with FCA and the design team to help the project achieve LEED Gold certification.

Returning to the plant for another major launch

Five years after the successful launch of the Dodge Dart, FCA again turned to Alberici to perform both the general assembly and body shop equipment packages for the launch of the 2017 Jeep Cherokee. Alberici was responsible for completely demolishing the south body shop that was outfitted five years prior. Alberici also painted and refinished the floors, ceilings, and columns prior to installing new body shop equipment. The general assembly work included installation of workplace integration room equipment, roll test machines, wheel aligners, and a variety of other sophisticated tooling systems.

Going above and beyond to meet the schedule

For the 2017 Jeep Cherokee launch, aggressive schedule demands at the Belvidere plant required our team to efficiently mobilize resources during a critical 14-week shutdown. Field supervision and equipment from Alberici operating companies in the U.S. and Canada were mobilized to the site during the shutdown. At peak, Alberici managed more than 600 on-site craft workers on multiple shifts.
