Alberici Named One of America’s Safest Companies

EHS Today, a leading publication for the safety, industrial hygiene, occupational health, and environmental management industries, named Alberici Constructors in their annual list of America’s Safest Companies for 2020.

Alberici is one of 10 companies who received this year’s honor and one of only two construction firms. The rigorous evaluation criteria includes a demonstrated commitment to safe work practices throughout all levels of the company, significantly lower than average injury and illness rates, innovative solutions to safety challenges, and the development and implementation of comprehensive training programs.

“Safety is our way of life,” said Alberici Safety Director, Kathleen Dobson. “There is no such thing as separating work and safety – there’s only working safely.”

Alberici employs 12 full-time safety professionals who are dedicated to monitoring and improving all aspects of the company’s environmental, health, and safety practices. This dedicated team, along with Alberici’s unique corporate safety program, SafeRing, has helped the company work more than 17 million hours without a lost time injury and achieve a 2019 OSHA recordable injury rate of just 0.39, far below the construction industry average of 2.8.

“Our safety culture sets us apart from others and focuses our processes on management engagement and participation, as well as worker involvement in our overall safety program and expectations,” said Dobson. “Clearly we have a dedicated group of field supervisors who are living and working our safety culture on our project sites. They drive their expectations to the craft workers, and it is their continuous efforts to lead safe practices that resulted in this award.”

Alberici was presented the award at EHS Today’s 2020 Safety Leadership Conference and profiled in the November issue of their monthly publication. This is the second time Alberici has been the recipient of this prestigious honor (the first award was in 2013).
