American Axle South Manufacturing Plant

  • Client:American Axle & Manufacturing
  • Location:Silao, Mexico
  • Contract Amount:$15,170,000
  • Project Size:26,500 square meters
  • Markets Served:Mexico
  • Architect/Engineer:Marhnos-Alberici Construcciones

An Alberici joint venture constructed the new South Manufacturing Plant for American Axle & Manufacturing in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico. The design-build project was one of many projects Alberici has constructed for American Axle worldwide.

The plant in Silao consists of 26,500 square meters of manufacturing space supported by electrical and mechanical rooms, an office area, a full kitchen and cafeteria for 300 employees, a loading dock and waste management areas.

To achieve stringent energy consumption limits, the Alberici team designed and installed a robust energy management system that controls the use of power throughout the facility. Environmental air conditioning is accomplished through evaporative cooling units and unit heaters.

Alberici installed an on-site main 115KV electrical substation, with secondary electrical distribution provided through an extensive bus duct system. We also installed systems including compressed air, natural gas, propane, and fire protection.
