The five tenets of Lean Construction are:
Collaborate Intensely I Improve Continuously I Optimize the Whole I Innovate I Build Trust
The focus of Lean Construction is to provide the most value for the customer while consuming the least amount of resources. Ultimately, Lean Construction is equivilant to less waste. Lean Construction aligns project objectives with the key project participants by encouraging ideas and innovation, removing the standard contract agreement which limits cooperation and innovation, enhancing coordination and eliminating the "every man for himself" philosphy.
Alberici Constructors has recently completed a major hospital expansion and is currently working on a new greenfield replacement hospital utilizing the principles of Lean Construction. At Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center, Alberici successfully delivered a four-story, 117,000 SF surgery expansion using Lean Construction under an Integrated Project Delivery Agreement (IPDA). Currently, Alberici is working with SSM Health Care and HGA Architects/Engineers on the design and construction of a Lean 158-bed replacement hospital on 54-acre site in Fenton, Missouri.
