Safety is an active, ongoing concern at Alberici Corporation. Our approach to it is preventive – we don’t see safety as rules to follow, but rather as a new behavior. There isn’t work and safety, there’s only working safely. We want working safely to become a way of life.

On average, Alberici logs more than 3.5 million work hours a year.  We are now well below the Bureau of Labor Statistics national average for accidents and injuries in the construction industry.  In 2003, we completed 95 projects without a single injury and an additional 25 projects with zero OSHA recordables.

Our safety program, SafeRing,SM revolves around planning, communicating, observing and improving. This program has become the foundation for planning safe work on all projects and includes:

  • Mandatory safe work pre-planning on all projects
  • Employees empowered to stop work and notify a supervisor if they feel something is unsafe
  • Discussions at the beginning of each day about safely performing the task at hand
  • Weekly “SafeTalks” and Project Site Inspection Reports on every project site
  • Reporting safety results to all employees each week in our internal newsletter
  • Special safety seminars for all project managers, engineers and estimators 12 times per year
  • Weekly safety review conference call with executive committee

Our commitment to safe work environments has garnered us Anheuser-Busch's “Proud to be Safe” Award for working over 50,000 work-hours without accidents and the NEA 18th Annual Thomas J. Reynolds Excellence in Construction “Safety & Health Award” for over 1,000,000 work hours in 2000.  In 2004,  the National Maintenance Agreements Policy Committee (NMAPC) recognized seven Alberici  industrial projects for achieving Zero Recordable Injuries.
