New Administration Building - Addition to Building 1
BioMerieux, Inc. selected Alberici Constructors, Inc. to be their Construction Manager for their New Administration building – Addition to Building 1. The $8 Million project is located Hazelwood Missouri and is situated on BioMerieux’s existing site.
Before winning the job, Alberici tackled the challenge of constructing the facility without impacting BioMerieux’s raw material and product delivery routes. The initial design concept called for a basement level plus two floors. Recognizing the delivery access restrictions that excavation of the basement would require, Alberici extensively modeled and subsequently proposed a 3-story structure without a basement. The approach was accepted and BioMerieux received a more aesthetically appealing building at a lower cost, shorter timeframe and greatly reduced impact to existing operations.
The new 38,000 square foot facility contains administrative, laboratory, testing and environmentally controlled spaces. The purpose of the facility is to support the manufacture of automated microbial ID instruments and cards.
Through a spirit of strong partnership and innovation, the Alberici, BioMerieux and Cannon Design team delivered a LEED Gold project (approval pending) despite initial programming oriented towards achieving LEED Silver. This was accomplished without additional cost to BioMerieux, Inc.
The project was delivered was delivered under budget and on schedule while incorporating new scope items such as a state-of-the-art telepresence room and significant renovations to the Human Resources department within the existing facility.
