Louisville MSD Alternative Solids Project-Morris Forman Wastewater Treatment Facility
Construction of this project eliminated a major odor source for Louisville and saved the plant more than $4 million annually in operation and maintenance costs. Alberici and Black & Veatch worked as one seamless team to restore four anaerobic digesters, and remove and replace existing dewatering and conveyance systems in the main equipment building. Alberici installed five new centrifuges for dewatering blended sludge, removed abandoned incinerators and installed four Andritz rotary dryers. Four new regenerative thermal oxidizers were installed and a silo was enlarged.
The new treatment process produces biosolids which are then dried and used as fertilizer, similar to the Milorganite product produced by the City of Milwaukee.
