Ford Motor Company Chihuahua Engine Plant (CHEP) Extension

In 1998, Ford Motor Land Services Global Plant Engineering in Germany awarded Alberici the contract to build a 375,000-square-foot extension onto an existing engine plant in Mexico.  This building was the first phase of the new Ford 14/15 engine program.

Alberici's construction team included professionals from Mexico and the United States, with added staff from the Modular Engine Plant project in Windsor, Ontario.  Marhnos-Alberici Construcciones, S.A. de C.V. assembled a Mexican labor force and assigned them to the project.

The team realized significant cost and time savings by implementing ideas, activities and strategies developed in value engineering sessions.  Careful planning during preconstruction along with meticulous attention to schedule won Marhnos-Alberici a contract extension to construct additional facilities in the Chihuahua plant.
