Detroit Water and Sewerage Water Works Park II
Alberici Constructors was one member of a quad-venture on this design-build project which included Walsh Construction and engineering partners Black & Veatch and Montgomery Watson Michigan. The project increased DWSD's output capacity from 78-million-gallons of water a day to 320-million-gallons of high-quality drinking water daily. The design-build contract included a 7-year agreement to maintain the facilities after project completion.
The mandate for Water Works Park II was typical of most Alberici projects...construct within an existing, fully-opertional facility without disrupting ongoing activities. Water Works Park was on a 48-month fast track schedule which encompassed new facility construction and demolition, along with rehabilitation of existing facilities. At completion, the new treatment facility incorporated ozonation technology and a high-tech filtration system to ensure continuous clean water production for the Detroit population.
