Services
Annually, Hillsdale fabricates more than 25,000 tons of structural and miscellaneous steel in our 250,000 square-foot facility. A perfect blend of experience, know-how and cutting-edge technology goes into every piece of steel we fabricate. We can identify potential time and cost savings early on in your project because of our steel erection and general contracting know-how.
Projects are “built” on screen by in-house detailers before they are ever released to manufacturing for fabrication. Information to all departments involved in the acquisition, fabrication and inventory of each piece of steel is electronic.
Sophisticated inventory systems number and track each piece of steel as it arrives from the mill and journeys from fabrication to delivery to its exact location on a structure.
An on-site, environmentally-controlled painting facility puts the finishing touches on every piece without adding cost to your project or solvent waste to the environment.

Hillsdale has earned the AISC Quality Certification Program requirements for Complex Steel Buildings and Sophisticated Paint Endorsement in 1987 and the ASME "A", “U”, "S" and “PP” Stamps. Hillsdale is an active member of The Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC).
Our facility houses state-of-the-art Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment and automated conveyance systems. Seven building bays equipped with overhead cranes can lift anything from 5-tons to 30-tons with a 60-ton lifting limitation.
A full complement of welding, metal cutting and steel forming equipment is manned by code-certified personnel. Engineers, detailers and estimators make sure your project is flawless right from the start.
Steel Detailing
Before a building is hammered, nailed, bolted, and clad, the structure is “built” on a computer using a 3-dimensional structural steel modeling system called X-Steel. Pre-set macros show detailers exactly where bolt connections need to be made on steel beams to ensure structural integrity. What used to be a manual, tedious process, has become as easy as a mouse-click.
X-Steel generates CNC data to run equipment in the fab shop. The program creates information for each piece of steel then electronically transmits the code to fabrication. The code tells the machinery when to make X and Y moves, where to start and end burns, where and when to punch, when to move, what the feed rates should be, and other pertinent details. All this translates into fewer human errors, saved time, and cost savings for the customer.
